Microcool Banchetto 101 Review

A Closer Look

Upon unpacking, the Banchetto pretty much is ready to have a PC installed on it. There is little to no assembly required which is unlike many bench stations that can be purchased today. There are some noticeable scratches on some of the panels which appear to be from the factory assembly. The response from Microcool on the scratches was that the scratches came from the shipping company mishandling the box during transport. Complaining aside, first impression of the Banchetto is that it is made of high quality materials and is very sturdy. Definitely up to the task of housing those expensive components you may want to use on it. With its two level design it has a nice small footprint for the amount of hardware it is capable of using.

Although there are no handles the unit is easy to pick up and move around if you need to take it with you somewhere. The Acrylite pieces are laser cut from 8 mm thick material while the rest of the parts are laser cut 1.2 mm Aluminum by design. The sample we received had a few bent pieces, both the radiator / water pump panel and the power supply mounts were disfigured. A quick adjustment and they were both back into shape. Microcool states this is from bad handling from the shipping company. There are cutouts in the Acrylite panels that allow for better wire management and to also allow you to access the rear of the motherboard's CPU socket for managing CPU cooler back plates with ease. The entire Bench station is held together with thumbscrews which should make for easy configuration of components.

Microcool has made use of some very nice power and reset buttons. Both come with sleeved wiring which is protective as well as great for aesthetic purposes. The motherboard tray has two laser cut holes in it that allow pass-through of the power and reset wires. Another nice touch is the Banchetto 101 logo printed onto the right side of the tray. These little features are what set this bench station apart from the rest.
