Sparrows Point Container Terminal is a proposed 330-acre redevelopment project within Sparrows Point, Maryland consisting of 168 acres for a new container terminal and intermodal yard, with an additional 162 acres for support facilities to enhance operations of the terminal.

This joint venture between Tradepoint Atlantic and Terminal Investment Limited (TiL) represents a major growth opportunity for the State of Maryland and the Baltimore region. The planned state of the art container terminal will allow Baltimore to evolve from a regional port into a true hub to cover all of the East Coast and through the Midwest.

Tradepoint Atlantic and Terminal Investment Ltd. announce a joint investment and partnership to establish a 165-acre container terminal with an on-dock rail facility. The project will support the growth of the Port of Baltimore and help drive economic growth for the state of Maryland.

Why Is This Important

There has never been a more important or pivotal time to invest in logistics and capitalize on the ability to move and receive cargo from around the world.

As the last few years have made extremely clear, expanding logistical capabilities will be increasingly important as the world becomes more connected and consumer demand for American and foreign goods grow.

States and local governments that make smart investments in logistical facilities today, will make exponential gains in the future - creating jobs, protecting the environment, and growing communities.

Driving Growth & Supporting Communities

The project’s on-deck rail facility will serve as the closest link to the Midwest from any American port, setting apart the Port of Baltimore from the rest of the nation.

This substantial expansion, will increase the Port of Baltimore's container handling capacity by 70 percent, further ensuring that the Port of Baltimore holds a substantial competitive advantage over ports along the Eastern Seaboard.
