Also known as the Turtle Plant, the caudex on this South African dioscorea elephantipes resembles the shell of a box turtle with its hexagon shaped fissured bark. Caudex is round-oval with vines covered in pillowed, heart shaped leaves. A collector's plant! The caudex should be kept underground for the first few years for fastest growth." 4" pot size
This plant is drought deciduous and is likely to drop leaves in transit. We will pre-trim this plant prior to shipping. Water it well when it arrives and you should see new growth within 1-2 weeks. Please reach out with questions!

We ship all orders Mon-Wed excluding federal holidays. If temperatures near you are below 45℉ we highly recommend adding a heat pack to your order. If temperatures will be much lower than 20℉ please leave us a note with your order asking us to hold your order until a given date as heat packs will fail at temps much lower than 20℉.
