Phuket’s west coast is perhaps the island’s main claim to fame, with some of Southeast Asia’s most stunning beaches and sights.

Located in the southwest of Thailand, Patong is the home to Patong Beach or Hat Patong. It reveals white sand that stretches to about three kilometers long and a vibrant nightlife featuring bars and cabaret shows. This town has quickly become one of Phuket’s most popular beach destinations.

What to do

Tourists coming to Patong can plan their visits to different beaches according to activities that they want to do for the day. Enjoy sunbathing, beach volleyball, and snorkeling in Freedom Beach, a 300-meter white sand beach surrounded by hills. North of Freedom Beach is Kalim Beach, the perfect beach for surfing. On the other hand, Paradise Beach is located in a small cove, making it ideal for swimming as it is generally safe from massive waves coming from the ocean.

Aside from beaches, nature lovers will appreciate Kathu Waterfall, which features a series of pools and enchanting scenery once hikers reach the very top. The best time to visit the waterfall is typically between June and November.

After spending time under the sun, the Jungceylon shopping complex is always ready to welcome travelers with familiar stores carrying everything from cosmetics to electronics. Aside from shops and department stores, the shopping complex also has cinemas and a 16-lane bowling alley.
