Sami Hyypia has officially opened the new Liverpool FC flagship retail store in Malaysia, making a special appearance in front of delighted fans at the store in Sunway Pyramid Mall, Subang Jaya.

Covering more than 850 square feet of retail space, the new official flagship store gives LFC fans in the region more access to official club merchandise and the latest Nike jerseys and training kits.

The store fit mirrors retail spaces in Liverpool and even has its own Champions Wall to bring Anfield that little bit closer.

It has been launched in partnership with Al-Ikhsan Sports, which recently renewed its long-term partnership with the club. Al-Ikhsan Sports is the number one sports retailer in Malaysia and manages LFC’s branded stores both off and online.

The extension of the current partnership with Al-Ikhsan Sports, the club’s official retail partner in Malaysia, is a multi-year renewal.

Mike Cox, senior vice-president for merchandising at Liverpool FC, said: “We are delighted to launch our first flagship store in Malaysia. It’s received an amazing reception from the fans who’ve been through the doors.

“It’s great to continue working with Al-Ikhsan Sports, who are an important partner for us in Malaysia. As our fanbase in Malaysia continues to grow they can get easy access to the latest official club merchandise on their doorstep.”

Vach Pillutla, CEO at Al-Ikhsan Sports, added: “Liverpool Football Club is one of the most successful and iconic football clubs globally and has a massive and growing base of fans in Malaysia.

“Through this relationship we have over the past three years successfully brought the Anfield experience closer to the Malaysian fan.

“We are thrilled to see the flagship LFC standalone store open and take the entire distribution to 100-plus locations within Malaysia, thereby making the Anfield experience accessible to more fans.”

Ten lucky winners got to have lunch with Reds legend Hyypia to celebrate the new store opening and also received limited-edition club merchandise, including ‘This is… Malaysia’ T-shirts.
