LFC forwards Roberto Firmino, Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah have been joined by defender Virgil Van Dijk in the players names that are printed the most on fan shirts.

The club store in L4 has more than a hundred shirts with the four players names already printed on match days - and a printing squad of 20 staff are on hand to print more at the store.

We went down to the Reds’ club shop, situated next to the Kop, to see how the store’s staff print Mo Salah’s name and his number 11 on to a Liverpool shirt.

We also spoke to Liverpool FC shop first assistant manager Heather Carroll, who showed us around the store - which sells everything from signed players’ shirts, teddy bears, player figurines, wooden seats from the old Main Stand, vodka, gin and even nappies.

Heather answered some of our questions about what sells well in the store and what it's like to work at the store.

On a match day, which player has his name printed on shirts the most?

The forwards are the most popular players. So Firmino, Mane and Salah - but since the club bought Virgil Van Dijk we sell as many with his name on now as well.

We have printed loads of shirts with Virgil on because he is so well liked by the fans.

On a typical match day we have around a hundred shirts with these four players names on and then the team here print and sell more on top of that.

If a certain player played well and scored a hat-trick then his name would sell a lot an hour after the final whistle.

Do youngsters like to have their own names printed on them?

Yes, a popular thing to do now is for the kids to get their name or nickname printed onto the back of the shirts and they get the number of their age on it too.

There are two types of prints that fans can get - one is the Premier League name and number design, and then there is a separate one for the Champions League and the Liver Bird symbol is within the number along with a line that goes through the number.

What’s it like in here on a match day?

The place is buzzing. There is a brilliant atmosphere and I love it.

For some fans it is their first time to Anfield or in other cases they have not been here for many years so there is a good feeling.

I have not experienced such a good atmosphere working at any other retailer - it’s a completely different feeling.

We have 150 staff working here on a match day and we put more tills on (45 in total) because we get around 5,000 fans come in on match days.

They come from all over the world and it's nice to listen to the different accents.

There is a DJ in here on a match day playing music from different decades.

What are your most popular items that you sell?

Obviously all of the match day New Balance kit and training kit.

And track suits are always popular along with New Balance trainers.

Then if the players are seen with something on then they sell really well - so, for instance, some of the players on the bench were seen with blankets covering them and then we soon sold out of them.

Do you sell any quirky or unique items?

For adult fans, we sell Liverpool vodka and Liverpool gin and they are our sponsors.

We also sell blue and white shirts (based on the first Liverpool kit which was blue and white).

We actually sell a box set with the original shirt and the latest team shirt in and it contains a little book with the history of the club inside.

From a history point of view, we are selling some of the old seats from the old Main Stand.

There are retro shirts, boots and hats that are signed by our legends and current players and manager - like a Jurgen Klopp signed baseball cap.

We have replicas of our mascot Mighty Red and then there are teddy bears, and we sell different teddy bears marking the 125th anniversary of the club.

The Dream Scene showing many greats that played for Liverpool is spectacular, too, and we sell prints of that.

In terms of quirky, for baby fans there are nappies.

How many scarfs do you sell on a match day?

A signed Istanbul shirt. (Pic Andrew Teebay).

We sell about 2,000 scarfs - and they are the most popular item in the shop.

Of the 2,000 scarfs we sell half and half scarfs, red and white bar scarfs and scarfs with a club crest on.

Do you have any offers on at the moment?

We are selling two for £25 on the cushions.

There are offers on selected men’s and ladies T-shirts - they are two for £28.

And the kids T-shirts are £18 for two.

Do you sell food?

Yes, we have a cafe upstairs which is not open on a match day because we use the space for tills.

The cafe is a nice area to sit and eat at because you can look down 96 Avenue.
