Fernando Torres returns to Atlético as under-19s coach

Torres took training this week for the first time as coach of a talented Juvenil A side.

Fernando Torres is back at Atlético Madrid — as the coach of a Juvenil A team brimming with talent.

The club announced the news Sunday, and it’s the culmination of a year-long process in which Torres has been getting to know the different coaching setups worked at the club. El Niño has been working to better understand the coaching methodology at the club before taking over one of its squads.

Torres, of course, came through Atlético’s academy after joining the youth ranks in 1995. On 27 May 2001, he debuted with the first team at just 17 years old and was named captain at 19. He would go on to play over 400 times for Atlético.

In other coaching news, Koke’s brother Borja Resurrección will take charge of the Cadete B side. Fabio Futre, the son of former Atlético star Paulo Futre, will manage the Alevín A team.

Below is a list of Atlético’s coaches (save Simeone and his staff) for the coming season, via Diario AS.
