Missing Miniature Schnauzers

REUNITED: In less than an hour

After the wind blew open an unsecured fence gate, Winston and Colby-Jack escaped unbeknownst to their owner! Thankfully, about an hour later they were reunited with the help of a good Samaritan and our 24/7 Reuniters Helpline.

“I had just finished cutting the lawn and I closed the backyard gate, but the latch didn’t catch and the wind apparently blew it open,” recalled Ron, Winston and Colby-Jack’s owner. “I went in the house and let Winston and Colby-Jack out to the backyard, but I didn’t hear them barking like they usually do. When I went to check on them I saw the gate wide open and they were gone!”

Ron immediately got into his car and began driving the neighborhood looking for his wandering canines. Thankfully, his search was short-lived because after he turned the corner onto a new block, he was notified by AKC Reunite that a good Samaritan found his Miniature Schnauzers and reported them found!

“As I turn the corner on my block, I saw them with [a good Samaritan] and he was on the phone with AKC Reunite. Right as I got out of my car, I got a text from AKC Reunite stating that they had been found,” said Ron. “We got [Winston (Salt and Pepper) and Colby-Jack (Black)] from the same breeder who recommended that we get them chipped and registered with AKC Reunite — and I’m so glad we did.”

“They always have their collars with their names and pet ID on them when we let them out or take them for a walk. I highly recommend to anyone who has a pet to get them chipped and register with AKC Reunite because this really works. A big thanks to AKC Reunite!”
