The Rise of Bimbos

Bimbofication has recently been taking over the world. From fashion to social media to an overall aesthetic, women have been rebranding what the word “Bimbo” means and turning it into something iconic. Originally, a bimbo was defined as an attractive but unintelligent woman. This trope was reflected in ultra-feminized, pop culture icons, including Elle Woods from “Legally Blonde” and Cher Horowitz from “Clueless.” However, the modern-day bimbo is a new approach to intersectional feminism and is helping pave the way to women's liberation.

As an avid TikToker and musician, Chrissy Chlapecka has risen to fame for reclaiming being a bimbo and reshaping the world’s narrative. “People in my comments section keep calling me a bimbo. I’m just going to go with it,” Chlapecka said in an October 2020 post, captioned "reclaiming this”. Along with Chlapecka, other people have been rising to fame on various social media platforms by bimbofying themselves and inspiring new and old generations of women. By going the distance to disprove the stereotype of cluelessly beautiful women, they have rebranded what it truly means to be a bimbo. While describing what a new age bimbo really is, Chlapecka said, “A bimbo isn’t dumb. Well, she kind of is, but she isn’t that dumb! She’s actually a radical leftist, who’s pro-sex work, pro-Black Lives Matter, pro-LGBTQ+, pro-choice, and will always be there for her girlies, gays and theys.”

New age bimbology aims to include everyone and move away from only including conventionally attractive, thin white women. With the rise of bimbos on Tik Tok, everyone who wants to be a bimbo can be - regardless of race, class, weight, or gender! Embodying the new age bimbo is all about being aggressively kind and spreading equality. Bimbos understand that looks do not correlate to intelligence and that looking hot while wearing pink can’t hurt.
