Urusei Yatsura is set in Tomobiki Town, and after aliens invade the sleepy little metropolis, protagonist Ataru is tasked with saving all of humanity by besting their champion Lum in a game of tag. Shenanigans occur, Ataru eventually wins the contest and Lum, as the alien princess misinterprets the his words in the heat of battle as a marriage proposal. After the aliens leave, the series properly kicks off as Ataru has to deal with Lum's advances while pursuing his one true love.

Yes, there are wacky hijinks, but there's also some great and emotional storytelling here amidst the slapstick comedy and visual gags. There's also some terrific animation courtesy of Jojo's Bizarre Adventure studio David Productions, as the animators faithfully replicate the retro look of the manga source material. The Blu-ray comes loaded with the standard features of an anime release, including Japanese promos, opening and ending sequences without any credits, and episode previews.

For more anime deals, swing on past the Crunchyroll Store for some big discounts. Great Pretender, a visually stunning series following a team of con artists, will be released in a deluxe package next month and there's a Last Chance Sale now on where you can save big on hundreds of anime Blu-rays, merchandise, and apparel.
