Some people use drugs, some use alcohol, some use sex to combat depression. Wentworth Miller wrote in an open letter on his Facebook page that he turned to food. Shortly after his time as the main character on four seasons of Prison Break, Miller had retired from acting as he struggled with his depression. "I was suicidal," he says. "Eating became the one thing I could look forward to. Count on to get me through. There were stretches when the highlight of my week was a favorite meal and a new episode of TOP CHEF. Sometimes that was enough. Had to be. And I put on weight. Big f--king deal."

It was the lowest point in his adult life, and after going out for a hike in LA, Miller was photographed by paparazzi. The photo was published soon afterward alongside an older photo with the caption "Hunk to Chunk. Fit to Flab."

"Fighting for my mental health, it was the last thing I needed," Miller writes. "Long story short, I survived."

"Now, when I see that image of me in my red t-shirt, a rare smile on my face, I am reminded of my struggle. My endurance and my perseverance in the face of all kinds of demons. Some within. Some without."

Now he's returned from his retirement and is starring in the new CW show Legends of Tomorrow. Miller ended his letter with some advice:

If you or someone you know is struggling, help is available. Reach out. Text. Send an email. Pick up the phone. Someone cares. They're waiting to hear from you. Much love.
