Toshiba KDDI Biblio Phone

Once again mobile phones have raised their bar of expectations by highlighting a unique feature. Toshiba has announced the launch of the latest KDDI mobile phone, dubbed the Biblio, in the Japanese market, according to Electronista. The uniqueness of this device is the incorporation of an e-book reader with an e-inkless support.

In addition to the electronic-book reader, the phone also doubles up as an entertainment device. It features a 5-megapixel autofocus camera with image stabilization, 1Seg TV compatibility and Bluetooth. Besides, it also inherits valuable features such as mobile wallet functionality that enables users to pay their bills and packs in two softwares such as ‘Smart Sports for Fitness’ and ‘Golf’, enabling consumers to keep track of their body mass index and distance.

In addition, the Biblio even features a 3.5-inch LCD touchscreen with an extra-long 480×960 resolution, Wi-Fi and 7GB of internal memory that can be expanded to about 8GB via microSDHC memory card. It sports a slide-out keyboard that reveals a numeric pad in the portrait orientation and a full QWERTY in the landscape position.

Other supported applications include YouTube, Flash and AJAX scripting, thanks to the available Opera Mobile 9.5 browser. It is based on an EZ terminal interface that allows consumers to navigate through content with ease.

The KDDI Biblio handset from Toshiba is scheduled to start shipping in the Japanese market by June 24, 2009. However, the price of the device is still under secrecy.
