A Good Thought- The Trust Walk

A Good Thought- The Trust Walk

Daily Devotional- Read HERE

These are the phrases that stood out to me in the message above –

  • Paul says to live with a goal in mind rather than float aimlessly through life (1 Corinthians 9:26).
  • Wishing and hoping never accomplish anything if there is no action.
  • Paul tells us to run to win (1 Corinthians 9:24), but what is the prize?

I really think that it’s helpful to have goals and to have my sights set on something….well anything actually-  as it allows for me to stay focused and I can lean on God for guidance throughout. I spend time in prayer and waiting for little nudges that show me which direction to head in. The hardest part for me is to be patient because I like to act and accomplish... (then repeat).... act and accomplish- and if I have to stay in stillness, I start to get antsy.

The middle phrase- Wishing and hoping never accomplish anything if there is no action. How true is this? We can daydream all we want and we can set goals/plans, but I believe if we don’t take that step forward we are actually further behind in the process. We are meant to keep walking forward and as we do this, God continues to steer us as long as we trust and lean on Him. Sometimes it isn’t easy or you don’t even know what direction to head in- as if we are walking blindfolded, scared that we might run into something… but in the end that is where the trust piece comes in, right? We have to be fearless at times (even when internally we might still be scared out of our minds). We have to walk in confidence and in faith that whatever lies ahead will be better than what was in our path behind us.

Running to win – I can even tie that back in to what is written up above with the blindfolded walk. Sometimes we are asked to run, to pick up the pace even. Many tend to shut down at the thought of being asked to run because if we are running blindfolded, what if we trip and fall? It could hurt us even more. Who will be there to catch us? Well…. I know because I’ve had to do this in the past. I know it might sound cliché but I can say with confidence that God will definitely catch us if we fall. If we have the willpower to take the leap of faith in running and we put forth the energy, we will be rewarded no matter what. It might not happen right away and yes, we might trip and fall – but after the wounds are healed, we will be able to look back at that process more proud. We will be more confident that we can take on anything, believing in our abilities and in knowing we did what was right.
