It's market insights time 🏡⏱ ◾ The demand for gardens and other private outdoor spaces has grown since the pandemic, when we all re-learned their value – whether as a refuge to relax in or an opportunity to extend our homes with garden offices and outdoor entertaining areas. ◾ There is a popular belief that new build homes come with tiny gardens but the evidence suggests that since 2020, homebuilders have been gradually expanding the size of gardens. ◾ Compared to 10 years ago, gardens of new build detached homes are 18% larger today. For semi-detached homes they have grown by 20% and in terraced houses, by 10%. ◾ The number of searches on Google for 'garden rooms' has risen by 27% since 2019 and for 'house for sale garden' by 47%. Housebuilders, it seems, have tuned in to the zeitgeist. Source: #Dataloft 2023, Google Trends

Do opposites attract? 🧲 When you go on holiday or take a break in the UK, what do you look for in a hotel or holiday home? Do you prefer classic/traditional or ultra modern? There are such a variety of styles to choose from in places to spend your break. You can stay in anything from an old castle to a modern penthouse apartment. 🏰🔝 Or how about a few days in an 18th century weaver’s cottage or a 21st century architect-designed glass beach house? Does the type of house you now live in influence your choice? This is a good chance to test out ‘the grass is always greener’ theory. You might find that when you go on holiday you prefer the opposite to your current lifestyle. Maybe you live in a modern build and have always fancied staying in a period cottage with bags of character. Or maybe the reality of living in a Victorian dwelling has you hankering for clean lines and all mod cons. 💎 Brand new and sparkling, like this holiday lodge kitchen, might not ooze character as much as your beloved thatched cottage but what about just for a wee change? Are you attracted to the opposite? Click on and FOLLOW MY HASHTAG #HospitalityandLeisurePhotographer for regular posts. #MarketingDigital #HospitalityIndustry #Hospitality
