One of the greatest highlights of our trip to Bangkok is Sirocco Sky Bar. Suspended in the sky on the 63rd floor of The Dome at Lebua State Tower, the sky bar is one of the world’s highest open air bars where many scenes in The Hangover Part II were shot.

Lebua State Tower is just a short cab ride from Siam shopping district. Be sure to look your very best as there is a strict dress code that you must adhere to in order to be allowed entrance upstairs. IMG_0646
We were ushered onto the lift at lobby level and off we went straight up to the 64th floor of the building.

The view that welcomed us was jaw-dropping-ly awesome! We were looking at a 360 degree panoramic view of Bangkok and the Chao Phraya river. Sirocco also has a reputation of being the highest located restaurant in the world, they offer everything from fine dining to jazz.

It is truly a spectacular experience to sit “at the top of the world” while indulging in the finest cuisine. However, our wallet could not afford such a lavish meal (chef tasting menu at 4300 baht ++). Hence we can only opt for a drink ot two at the sky bar.

We were led down a magnificent staircase leading from the main dome. There were ushers everywhere to lead the way.

Just across the main dining area, there is an elevated platform where the sky bar is located. It is a pretty narrow space and everyone just stand around it, holding their drinks.

There is also a funky color-changing round bar in the middle, with bartenders preparing drinks behind.

We were at the edge and through the thick glass delimiters, one can look straight down all the way.

I was completely blown away by the beautiful night view. There’s old Bangkok and the new Bangkok, seperated by Chao Phraya river.

After the long evening we decided to call it a night and head back to our hotel. Guests are given a free poscard each as a token of appreciation. It was an excellent experience to take in the breathtaking view of the city even though drinks were expensive (a cocktail sets you back > RM 50).
